With extreme weather events increasing in frequency and intensity, integrating the entire community in preparedness activities is crucial for ensuring fair outcomes for all. This course will equip emergency planners, managers, and responders with the best practices for engaging all community stakeholders throughout the preparedness cycle, with a focus on better serving communities that are more vulnerable and have specific needs.

Course Overview

This course prepares emergency planners, managers, and first responders to develop strategies for reducing the societal impact of future environmental scenarios and extreme weather events through the National Preparedness System. Participants will enhance capabilities to address environmental risks and vulnerabilities by adopting best practices for including all community members, particularly those more susceptible to risks, in assessments, planning, equipping, training, and exercises. By the end of the course, participants will have the ability to enhance community-wide preparedness and capabilities with the latest best practices and resources.

Emergency managers, planners, and first responders

Certification

A certificate of completion will be given to those participants who pass the test with a score of 70% or higher. Students who do not achieve a score of 70% or higher will be allowed to retake the test an additional two times.

A certificate will be issued to participants who successfully complete this course.
