Strengthening Community Resilience within Tribal Nations

Tribal Nations face change, as climate and environmental events impact their economies, cultures, and ways of life. While historically resilient, new strategies to meet the demands of external changes can assist their success. This course provides a forum for discussing the changes affecting tribal communities, their traditional assets and resources, and lays out a framework for enhancing resilience. Instructors offer methods, resources, and practices that respect the sovereignty, culture, and traditions of Tribal Nations while preventing and mitigating potential climate impacts. Participant-led discussions facilitate self-determined pathways for improving resilience. Recent success stories from various Tribal Nations are shared and discussed. Participants complete the course with timely resources and training to strengthen their approaches for enhancing community resilience.
